This book is part of a two volume set that examines prostitution and sex trafficking on a global scale, with each chapter devoted to a particular country in one of seven "geo-cultural" areas of the world. The 18 chapters in this volume (Volume I) are devoted to examination of the commercial sex industry (CSI) in countries within Africa, Asia, Middle East, and Oceania, while the 16 chapters that comprise Volume II focus exclusively on Europe, Latin America, and North America. Volume II also includes a "global" section, which includes chapters that are globally relevant - rather than those devoted to a particular country or geographic location. The content of each volume, as well as each chapter, reflects great diversity - diversity in focus, writing style, and personal position regarding the commercial sex industry. Diversity extends to the contributors, who are comprised of international scholars, service providers, and policy advocates representing a variety of fields and disciplines, with distinct and varied frames of reference and theoretical underpinnings with regard to the commercial sex industry. In addition to addressing aspects of the CSI across the globe, as impacted by geography and culture, authors have also provided a spectrum of implications of their work - implications ranging from continued scholarship and research, to legislative maneuvers and policy change, to suggestions for collaboration across NGOS, fieldworkers, clinicians, and service providers. Together, the 34 expertly-crafted chapters provide a wealth of knowledge from which to more deeply appreciate and contemplate the global commercial sex industry. Trafficking of women is an illicit and clandestine movement of persons across the national and international borders. Women from developing countries and some countries with economic in transition are trapped with promises of false employment, marriage, adoption and later forced into exploitative situations for the profit of recruiters, traffickers and crime syndicates. This illicit trade has been going on around the world for centuries. Currently, it is an evident problem for the countries like Mexico, where women from small towns and rural areas trapped with many promises, and later sold in metropolitan cities as sex workers, table dancers, domestic servants and as many others. Thus, the main objective of this book is to visualize the problem of women trafficking in Mexico and investigate the major causes and consequences of trafficking of women in the country.

En contradiccion con la predominancia de las explicaciones sobre la precariedad del sector informal, el presente estudio describe, examina y explica algunas investigaciones que evidencias la presencia de empresas y trabajadores que no entran en el supuesto general. Los analisis indican de la existencia de un estrato de empresas o trabajadores que se han acoplado a los procesos de estas actividades y que han encontrado en ellas un buen empleo y conseguido beneficios que pueden ser comparables o superiores a los ofrecidos por los empleos formales. Esta realidad se demuestra en el contexto de una importante zona metropolitana de Mexico y de ahi se desprenden propuestas para implementar politicas publicas; desde la vison de la no precariedad. El objetivo del estudio es contribuir a la solucion o disminucion de la problematica del sector informal en los mercados de trabajo.
